My Story

Background: The first recipient of the HOPES scholarship hailing from a small village faced numerous financial challenges while pursuing his dream of becoming a doctor. His family struggled to make ends meet, but his determination never wavered.

Journey: The scholarship of the HOPES Foundation give him the opportunity to focus on his studies without the burden of financial stress and allows him to excel in academics.

Achievements: Eventually, he successfully completed his studies and obtained the MBBS and MS degree with top honors. He is now in government service as an Associate Professor of a renowned government Medical College in the surgical field and is recognized as a successful medical practitioner. He is also involved in many community health programs through charitable organizations providing medical services to underserved populations.

My Story

Background: Growing up in a small village in Bogura, Rasel faced financial challenges while pursuing his studies at Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU). His family struggled to support the education of multiple sons simultaneously with their limited earnings.

Journey: With the support of the HOPES Foundation, Rasel was able to concentrate on his studies without the burden of financial stress. The monthly stipend provided by HOPES covered his living expenses, allowing him to excel in his academics.

Achievements: Rasel graduated with top honors from BAU and then moved to South Korea for his PhD. He is now a prominent researcher in the USA, engaged in animal genomics and immunogenetics research in the lab, on the farm, and through in silico methods, addressing food and nutrition insecurity.

My Story

Background: Professor Ektear, born into an agrarian family in Bogura, lost his father during childhood. Despite owning agricultural land, his mother faced financial challenges in educating him. With determination and support from HOPES, he excelled in higher education.

Journey: The HOPES Foundation’s monthly stipend boosted his academic performance in his 3rd year, allowing him to focus on studies without financial stress. The stipend later increased, further enhancing his academic concentration.

Achievements: Professor Ektear graduated with honors and a master’s degree from Bangladesh Agricultural University and earned a PhD in Rural Development from China Agricultural University. He completed a postdoc in Climate Smart Agriculture in the Netherlands and has visited several countries as a scholar. Currently, he is a full Professor at Patuakhali Science and Technology University, winning the best project award in 2024.

My Story

Background: Saiful, from a rural village with limited access to educational resources, faced significant financial challenges that made his academic journey difficult. However, his passion for education kept him determined to become a successful agriculturist.

Journey: The HOPES Foundation scholarship provided Saiful with the opportunity to focus on his studies, enabling him to achieve the academic success that brought his dream to life.

Achievements: Dr. Saiful Islam earned a Ph.D. and completed postdoctoral studies (JSPS) at the University of Tokyo, Japan. He is now a professor at a public university in Bangladesh and has received several prestigious awards, including the Bangladesh Academy of Science (BAS) Gold Medal Award, the President Award from PSU, Thailand, the JSPS Award from UTokyo, Japan, and the Gold Medal Award from YNU, Japan.

My Story

Background: Born in a remote area of Kurigram with limited educational resources, Nurealam faced significant financial and physical challenges throughout his academic career.

Journey: Despite these obstacles, Nurealam pursued higher studies at Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University. With financial support from HOPES, he completed his Bachelor of Science in Agriculture.

Achievements: Nurealam now serves as a faculty member at a public agricultural university. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Bonn, Germany, supported by a DAAD Fellowship. He has published over 50 research articles in reputed journals and received several national and international awards. Notably, he was awarded the "Gold Medal Award 2023" by the Bangladesh Academy of Sciences (BAS) for his outstanding scientific contributions and is an elected Associate Fellow of BAS. Additionally, he donates part of his income to support those affected by flooding, poverty, unemployment, and malnutrition.

My Story

Background: I was born into a lower-middle-class Muslim family in Mirzapur, a remote village in Jashore district. After completing my primary and secondary education, I enrolled at Dhaka University with dreams of higher education. During financial hardships, HOPES Foundation provided crucial support, allowing me to focus on my studies without financial stress and excel academically.

Achievements and Activities: I am Dr. Md. Mintu Ali Biswas, an Associate Professor in the Department of Islamic History & Culture at Jagannath University, Dhaka. I completed my B.A. Honours and M.A. in Islamic History & Culture from the University of Dhaka, earning a gold medal for academic excellence. I also hold a Ph.D. and am affiliated with various research institutes. I am a life member of several historical societies, including the Itihas Parishad of Bangladesh and the Asiatic Society of Bangladesh. Additionally, I am an active member of the HOPES family and serve on the executive committee.

My Story

Background: Growing up in a rural area with limited access to educational resources, Mainul's academic journey was fraught with difficulties. His passion for education kept her striving for excellence.


Journey: The scholarship of HOPES Foundation allows him to focus on his studies without the burden of financial stress and allows him to excel in academics. Mainul was able to attend the University of Dhaka, where he pursued her studies in Law. The scholarship also allowed him to participate in various extracurricular activities.


Achievements: Mainul obtained an LL.B. (Honours) & LL.M. from the University of Dhaka. Now he is serving in the Judiciary with integrity & courage. He is also an enrolled member of the Bangladesh Bar Council. A huge number of litigant people got their proper justice from Mainul & he is also contributing to reducing the backlog of cases. Besides, he is involved in different social activities.

Journey: He was able to complete his BBA and MBA from the University of Dhaka with the generous help of HOPES. This contribution leads to a way of being a promising and committed faculty member of a university.


Achievements: After completing his MPhil degree Mr. Rashid is pursuing his PhD in the field of SME. Now, he is performing as an Associate Professor and Chairman at a university. He is also engaged in different social activities for the less privileged students.

My Story

Background: Momin was born and grew up in a village with limited educational resources, life was fraught with numerous challenges. Despite these stressful conditions, he was determined to learn.

Journey: The financial support from HOPES significant impact on his academic performance and allows him to be the best in academics.

Achievements: Momin has completed PhD from S. Korea and a Postdoc from P.R. China. He is a professor at a renowned university, inspires and motivates students to reach their full potential.

My Story

Background: In 2009, after much struggle, I enrolled at Dhaka University. During this time, Professor Dr. Mahfuza Khanam, the General Secretary of the Asiatic Society Bangladesh, offered me her support and guidance. Her encouragement led me to seek further opportunities to continue my education.

Journey: Following Professor Khanam's advice, I met Mr. Noor Mohammad Talukder, who was surprised by my academic achievements and urged me to apply for scholarships, including from HOPES. Thanks to his guidance and support, I applied and secured scholarships that allowed me to focus on my studies without financial stress. My education was further supported by another scholarship from a respected educator, enabling me to pursue my academic goals smoothly.

Achievements: With the help of HOPES and other scholarships, I completed my formal education and developed close relationships with many esteemed scholars and mentors. HOPES has been the catalyst for my success, and I remain deeply grateful for their unwavering support.

My Story

Background: Masud, from a small village in Naogaon, faced financial difficulties while pursuing his education. Despite his family’s struggles, he remained determined to succeed.

Journey: The HOPES Foundation scholarship allowed Masud to focus on his studies without financial worries, helping him excel academically.

Achievements: Masud earned both a B.Sc. (Hons) and an MS degree, achieving the highest CGPA at each level. In 2014, he was awarded the Prime Minister's Gold Medal for his exceptional academic performance. He began his career in the Department of Fisheries at the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock and is now an Assistant Professor at Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka. His research focuses on Bangladesh's fish and fisheries resources, and he has developed seven technologies. Notably, he created Bangladesh's first floating fish feed production machine, earning the ACI-DEEPTA Krishi Padak-2022. In 2024, he received the National Fish Medal for his outstanding contributions to the fisheries sector.

My Story

Background: I was born and brought up in a small village in Narsingdi. Growing up in a farming household, finances were often tight. These financial challenges taught me the value of hard work, perseverance, and the importance of education.


The Journey: The HOPES Foundation Scholarship not only helped me financially, but also motivated me to work harder and excel in my studies. The scholarship allowed me to focus more on my academic and professional goals without the added stress of financial constraints. The HOPES foundation Scholarship had driven me to excel academically and pursue a career where I hope to create a stable future for myself and give back to others in need.


Achievements: I graduated from Dhaka Dental College and Hospital with top grades. I received my PhD in Medical Life Sciences from the University of Toyama, Japan. Now I am working at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, the world's leading cancer center.

Background: Coming from Noakhali, Amena faced numerous challenges while pursuing her dream of becoming a graduate. After her mother's death, her family went through a financial crisis, making it difficult to support her education.

Journey: With the support of the HOPES Foundation, Amena was able to focus on her studies without the burden of financial stress. The scholarship provided by HOPES covered her tuition fees and basic living expenses, allowing her to excel in her academics at Chittagong  University.

Achievements: Amena graduated from the Political Science Department at Chittagong  University. She is now dedicated to social work and is actively seeking a job to further contribute to society.
